A moment of silence to take in the fragrance steaming from the cup.
The ceramic vessel of warmth spreads from the hands into the arms and letting the muscles liberate.
Anticipation of the sharp bite of caffeine grows. Ultimately cooled by sugar; sweetening the blow.
To halt and let blank thoughts flood the mind. Colors start to come alive. Black and white mornings become vivid days.
Settled. Recharged. Contemplating not moving. Just letting things go.
In season 4 of Beverly Hills 90210, the newly graduated gang heads off to college. For the sake of viewership, they all stick together and attend fictitious California University (CU), conveniently located in the Beverly Hills area. Though the kids are growing up and venturing out, they still migrate to their favorite local eatery: The Peach Pit. In this scene, the gals gather to chat about school, boys and the like. Brenda looks like she’s doing the walk of shame in that get-up. Maybe she’s telling the ladies all about her previous night’s escapades. Our guess is that the wholesome show kept things squeaky clean and she’s likely showing off a new outfit for her gal pals. After all, it was the 90’s. Seeing an outfit like that in the daylight hours in California = completely normal. Cheers 90210! Thanks for 10 glorious seasons of teen soap fun.
One more breakfast joint that does breakfast like breakfast is supposed to be. Another Broken Egg Cafe has set up shop in the Southern U.S. in states like Texas, Louisiana and (this mug from) Mississippi. After reading the menu, the Mug Shots team only wishes there were a closer location! Some omelettes we wouldn’t mind digging into:
Our cream cheese filled omelette is topped with fresh crabmeat sautéed in our special house-made garlic butter and finished with melted Jack cheese and a touch of scallions.
The Farm Fresh
Our garden fresh selection of broccoli, mushrooms, onions, tomatoes & melted combo cheese.
Our baked crisp bacon & avocado slices are finished off with melted Monterey Jack cheese, with homemade salsa.
Through community coffee they have been awarded “gold cup” status. Brought to the customer by carefully monitoring & metering the quality of their coffee & water. Line us up a few of those omelettes and a mug of that quality brew and paint us a picture of a wonderful morning!
Meet Erica’s Giant Cup of Shut the F*©# Up. We decided to feature Erica’s mug in our 100th post for several reasons. We like it’s simplicity. We love it’s brashness. We appreciate her ability to tell it like it is. Honesty really is the best policy. Erica saves her sugar for sweetening her black gold and the rest speaks for itself. Thanks for sharing, Erica!
Meet Dave’s Star Trek: The Original Series Mug. As far as mugs go and as far as Star Trek goes, this piece of ceramic is pretty swell. We Googled all that we could to try to find another mug that matched this, but we were left with no reward. Having said that, we’d guess that Dave has a pretty prized possession in his grasp. Remember Dave: Boldly go where no man has gone before and keep both hands on that mug. Especially when you battle aliens, megalomanical computers, time paradoxes, psychotic murderers and even Genghis Khan!
Mug Shots has a soft spot for documentaries and even softer spot for Pearl Jam. Put the two together and get pure gold! In 2011, the band celebrated 20 years of making music together with the anniversary of the release of the Ten album. Filmmaker and huge fan, Cameron Crowe, decided to highlight this achievement and chronicle the boys in a rockumentary about their history. The film crew visited the homes of some of the guys and got a glimpse into their lives today. While Jeff Ament (bassist) keeps the most history stuff, Stone Gossard (guitarist) was able to find this Mexico City mug he picked up while touring with the band. While inspecting the mug, Stone realizes it needs another run through the dishwasher. We’ll say! He goes on to scour the basement and way off in the corner, discovers a dusty old Grammy. Funny site to the true fans. Pearl Jam doesn’t make the music to win awards. They make the music to enrich the soul. With 20 years and 9 hit albums in the mix, it doesn’t look like Pearl Jam is stopping anytime soon. Thanks for 20 great years and looking forward to 20 more.

Now in it’s 5th season, The Big Bang Theory, has captured a solid viewing audience and week after week the geeky-goofball cast mates entertain. In the 4th season’s “The Herb Garden Germination”, Sheldon and Amy secretly experiment on the gang by spreading rumors about the two of them engaging in coitus. Above, they cheers to their experiment. Amy casually drops it into conversations with her bestie, “Sheldon and I engaged in sexual intercourse. In other news, I’m thinking of starting an herb garden. Mum’s the word! Gotta go!” and so on. Sheldon and Amy sit back and watch as the meme reaches full penetration. (Pun intended!) Just one of the fun, scientific based humor-iffic plot lines that the writers do a great job of keeping fresh.
The Mug Shots team loves a good flick and this one is certainly a goodie. James Cameron assembled an all-star cast: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jamie Lee Curtis, Tom Arnold, Bill Paxton, Tia Carrere and Eliza Dushku to bring us the story of the life of Harry Tasker: Secret Agent for the United States Government. True Lies packs enough action and humor into its sometimes absurd plot to entertain the audience. At 141 minutes, there better be some entertainment value! Our favorite character to watch most certainly has to be Gib (Tom Arnold). He’s quick, witty and doesn’t take crap from any sick bitches that take the ICE CUBE trays out of the FREEZER! In this scene he catches young Dana (Harry’s daughter) ripping him off while watching through some nifty 1994 spy glasses during his morning coffee. We told you this film was choice!
